The Weedification process can only be conducted by an authorized Independent Content Provider (ICP) certified by Weedshare - in this case, Todd Beals with Creative Media Services (CMS). Currentlyhere are approximately 80 ICP's worldwide and only 3 in Florida. Basically the ICP's role is to set-up a rightsholder's account for you, help you verify rights clearance, and then work with you to encode, upload promote your Weeded files.

There are four easy steps to the process:

• 1. Sign the Rightsholder's Declaration

  The first step is to clear the rights to the material. Weed does not request any rights from artists - however, we must verify that those who provide content do have the right to distribute and sell the music. To do this, we ask you to sign a declaration verifying that you have the necessary rights to the material you're submitting. To avoid potential liability, we do not currently accept cover songs or music that includes samples from published or unidentified artists. We will provide you with a copy of this document covering all the songs you wish to submit.

   

• 2. Convert  files to WMA (audio) and add metadata

  If your audio is not already in Windows Media format, convert your tunes from the highest quality sound file available into WMA (between 128Kbps and 160Kbps is most common. Remember - the higher the rate, the larger the file size). Also, include graphic - CD cover art or any image that is approximately 200 X 200 pixels, RGB- jpg not to exceed 10K when inserted into the media file. Including promo artwork and text in your submission is important as this is the content other distributors will use to promote your music from their web sites. If you are not comfortable with media file conversion or adding artwork - BootlegWeed can do this for you.

   

• 3. As the Artist, you determine the price you want to charge

  You can set any price you like for your music. Download services commonly charge between $.79 cents and $2.00 per track. We believe that Weed files should be priced so as to provide sufficient incentive for others to redistribute them yet not be so expensive that collectors shy away. These are only guidelines, however, and it's your decision what to charge for your music.

   

• 4. Send the WMA file or CD to BootlegWeed

  When you're happy with the compression sound quality and the metadata, send the files or CD to BootlegWeed. We will provide instructions on how to do this. You will need to provide the following information for each track:

Title:
Author:
Album:
Artist URL:
Copyright:
Price:

Once your music has been Weedified, we'll host them for you and promote them on our site. We'll also email each Weeded song back to you and then you're free to distribute them any way you like and from that point on - when ANYONE buys your Weeded music, you (the artist, record label or content owner) will ALWAYS receive 50% of the purchase price.
